Leighton Green
The Leyland cypress is a fast-growing hybrid coniferous evergreen tree that makes an ideal hedge to screen unpleasant views and neighbours. The Leighton Green has a fantastic, thick rich green foliage with a hint of blue, that loves being trimmed and shaped into a hedge. It can withstand hard pruning because it has hidden buds in the bark where new shoots will appear.
When to prune?
Prune 2-3 times a year in summer, early autumn and early spring.
However, do not cut the mature Leylandii branches back beyond the green growth as they will not regrow, and the cut area will stay brown and unsightly.
